Aloe melanacantha
ruthbancroftgarden: Aloe melanacantha comes from... - Aloe-Malo
"Aloe melanacantha comes from the northwestern corner of South Africa, in the winter-rainfall zone. Its name means “black thorn”, which is quite appropriate, though the leaf-spines start out white on young plants. Even older plants may not develop black spines if they do not get enough sun. Though we have long grown this plant in the greenhouse, we have decided to try it out in the ground, and it is a pleasure to see it flowering for the first time."
